Spring Retreat

The fresh air gently caresses the skin on my bare arms and the sun shines hot, almost burning my face. How long I’ve waited for this moment to return. With eager motions, I turn to grab the folding chair behind me and set it upright on the wooden planks, carefully avoiding the gaps between each slab. Then, I reach into my shoulder bag and pull out the book I’m currently reading.

“What a perfect day it is,” I sigh delighted and sit down, while some church bells ring in the distance, and returning birds chirp loudly from unknown heights. Then, for a moment, everything goes quiet. The birds stop to breathe, the bells fade out, and the sound of mind-numbing traffic has long vanished.

I put my book down to grab a sip from my water bottle. Next, I reach in my bag again to fish out my sunglasses.

I’m prepared for this day as I’ve never been before.

But how could I not be?

All my needs are in my scope, on my balcony lock-down spring resort.
