The Sound of Nature

Through light and day, the birds jumped around vividly on branches, high up in the trees, singing their souls out into the air. The songs echoed through the vast forest leaving nothing but happiness in their wake. As if enchanted by these melodies, leaves were sprouting everywhere. Even the flowers at the base of the trees blossomed magically while facing the rays of the sun. An awakening that couldn’t start soon enough.

John, who stood at the edge of the forest, on his wheat field, listened intently to these beautiful sounds. It felt like an eternity since he’d last had the pleasure to enjoy the sounds of nature.

“Oh nature,” he sighed, “how you’ve blossomed since last we met.”

“You say that like you’ve been locked away for months,” said a gentle female voice mockingly, approaching him from behind.

“It sure feels like it,” John replied to his wife, “the winter was brutal this year. As much as I enjoy the evening in front of the fire with you, I sure am glad we can finally go outside again.”
