Just Traffic Things

The workday is over and I’m finally sitting in my car. Soon I’ll be at home, but I’m already dreaming about that cold beer in the fridge and my comfortable sofa.

Misguided by my desire I suddenly find my self in a long cue of cars waiting for the light to turn green. Meanwhile, the lane next to me is empty. It’s the lane for those that have to turn left at the intersection. Surprisingly, it seems a lot of people need to be at the Fresh Fruit Depot today.

How naïve of me to think people are inherently honest. No, they have fallen prey to their primal instinct of selfishness and once the light turns green, they’ll swoop in any gap that presents itself, making everything even worse.

I’m still not sitting on my sofa. Instead, I’m still at that same intersection, taking triple the time than I should have. I call them assholes, blame their parents, humanity, and capitalism.

But maybe, at the end of the day, I should blame myself, take the bus, and set an example.
