Moving Forward

Looking back isn’t one of those motivational posters that people like to share on social media. No, you’ve got to look ahead and keep paving the path of the success you desire.

That’s all good and well, but occasionally it’s nice to reflect on failures and accomplishments. It’s something you can do at your own pace, especially between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, when nothing else really gets done.

A little self-inflicted pinch at the newly grown fat, and the sudden question whether that’s from the last couple of days or the entire year. Maybe you’ve done some exercising. Maybe you’ve tried a diet. Maybe you didn’t do anything at all but eat and drink.

Here you are, looking back, reminiscing about the past year, evaluating the good, the bad, and the ugly. It’s almost the same routine as every other year before that, ending with minor changes and major commitments. All in all, something you’ll have forgotten again, once the daily rhythm of life kicks in. Yet, these thoughts didn’t kill you, or your dreams. Looking back is okay, whilst inevitably moving forward. Any good driver will agree.
